In 1988, when nearly every cleaner in the country was soaking carpets with hot water and detergent, we started doing the opposite.
The reasoning was simple. Wet carpets stayed damp for hours. Detergent residue kept attracting dirt. Mold and mildew quietly bloomed beneath the pile. And the families paying for the service were the ones breathing the fumes for weeks afterward.
